Ruth grew up in a small town on the south side of Chicago. When she married her husband, Vern, she had never been west of the Mississippi River and, on her honeymoon, felt uncomfortable driving more than 200 miles a day.
Since then she has lived in four major cities in the United States (from the west coast to the east) and has travelled extensively throughout the world.
She is a self-described late bloomer, getting her college degree when she was forty, writing her first children’s book when she was fifty and in all the years before and after, lived life, raising her three children, playing the piano, directing countless musicals, teaching Middle School, and leading Bible studies.
As a pastor’s wife, she has welcomed thousands of people into her home.
As an author, she travels, talking with students and teachers about her books and the writing process.
More recently, she has been on a denominational board planning events and retreats for pastor’s spouses.
Her three children are grown and married to wonderful spouses, and she has four beautiful granddaughters, Annika, Elise, Anja, and Ilse.
Ruth lives in Miami, Florida with her husband Vern.
