What’s Next?

I completed the World Race, my time in Metro Detroit came to a close, and the Lord sent me back to my home city, Grand Rapids, Michigan to prepare for the next step in my journey. Youth With A Misison (YWAM) has been on my heart for some years now and it’s finally time! I’ll be attending the Adventure Zambia DTS from July 21st - December 5th of 2025. With the heartbeat across YWAM being to know God and to make Him known, the Discipleship Training School (DTS) is split up between two Phases. I’ll be located on base (mostly) for the first 11 weeks of the DTS in Mkushi, Zambia. This portion is the Lecture Phase where we will be in more of a classroom-like setting learning biblical foundations, cross-cultural ministry and evangelism, our identity in Christ and His lordship, etc.
With this DTS having a focus on adventure and nature, our “classroom” may sometimes look more like mountain hikes, canoe trips, camping, or rock climbing. We’ll be using our mutual love for adventure as our avenue for ministry and learning to use the great outdoors as our canvas and tools for painting God’s story wherever we go. During this time, we’ll be able to engage in weekly local ministry through things like door-to-door evangelism, after school kid’s programs, leading Bible studies in villages, prayer ministry and caring for/encouraging those who are sick in hospitals.
We’ll also take this time to pray as a team and ask the Lord where He is sending us for the next 7 weeks, which is the Outreach Phase of the DTS. It could be another place in Zambia or a different country entirely, possibly Zimbabwe, Tanzania, or Malawi. There we will carry on with our focus of adventure-based ministry and discipleship, putting into practice all we have learned. Check out my recent blog posts to see what I’ve been up to!
